There is no fitness prerequisite for joining us. I don’t care if you’re a die-hard weightlifter or if you’ve never set foot in a gym in your life; it doesn’t matter. The beauty of fitness is that it’s scalable to wherever you’re at, right now.
You don’t need to be a certain size or shape or weight. All bodies are good bodies, and there is no wrong way to have a body. I am supportive of the moms I work with who have weight loss goals, but I, personally, do not consider weight loss to be a primary benefit of the classes I teach. My hope for you is that you see how strong and powerful you are and you can OWN that. You will never, ever see a weight loss challenge at Fierce Mama Fitness, and you will never, ever see me promote a fix or cleanse or wrap or pill. Not. Gonna. Happen.
Not all moms have given birth. But do you want to know something cool? Everyone has a pelvic floor. Literally everyone! Isn’t that great? A fitness business that serves moms can sometimes neglect adoptive moms by placing such a heavy emphasis on childbirth preparation and recovery, but the reality is that motherhood is an extremely physically-demanding job, no matter what road you took to get here. Adoptive and biological moms alike can benefit from strength training and core and pelvic floor knowledge.
The title “mom” belongs to any person who identifies with it, no matter who you love or how you express your gender identity. ALL moms are welcome. It’s that simple.
Fierce Mama Fitness has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination. Any person who makes hateful remarks of any kind, whether in person, on the public Fierce Mama Fitness Facebook page, or in a private Facebook group, will be refunded their money for any remaining classes and banned. I have not yet had any reason to use this policy, and I hope I never will, but I am very protective of my moms and will not stand for them to feel unwelcome or unsafe for any reason.
I freely admit that I don’t know everything there is to know about intersectionality and all the possible identities a mom can have, but I am committed to learning as much as I can. Writing an inclusivity statement and promptly forgetting about it means nothing; the true challenge is keeping an open mind and continually challenging my own beliefs so I can provide the best possible experience for any mom in search of a fitness community.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about anything on this page, I’d love to hear from you. This community is just getting started and I am unbelievably excited about the space we’re creating for moms.
I hope you’ll join us.
